Come. Tour our property and facilities.
Visit with the horses in our care and speak to those who love and ride them. We understand the "Big Picture" but we also understand how important all the small details are. Horses are fed four times a day (only by the barn manager, trained staff or owner), medications and supplements are always given consistently, water buckets are scrubbed as needed and filled daily. Horses are inspected at breakfast, or during cleaning the stalls. A final "bed check" and closure of the front gate takes place long after everyone has left for the night. Experience the difference at Heron Bay Stables!
The "New Indoor Coverall Arena" was built in 2010. This newer type of facility along with the covered 60' round pen have a greener footprint and cast no shadows. This "New" blends with our open skies, mountain backdrop, with the old heritage landscape of barn and circa 1905 house just 200 yards off the ocean dyke trails and beach.
What We offer
3 Riding Arenas (each suited to a purpose):
Indoor Ring (72’ x 176’) with large roll up doors, 32 foot ceiling height to maximize light and ventilation, sprinklered and with sound system. The footing is sand and rubber crumble.
Outdoor Ring (100’ x 200’) with washed sand to provide a surface with give and one that can be ridable for most of the year with a firm, dry and even riding surface. A generous sized ring with plenty of space for riding even if you’re not using the available jumps. The course is set up and taken down after each use by the two jumping trainers we have.
Second Outdoor "Agility" Ring (72’ x 150’) has sand footing with all seasonal rubber footing. Plenty of room to ground work your horse by lunging, over/through obstacles, riding or turn out while doing chores.
2 Round Pens:
Covered 60' walled round pen with auto lights for night work or rides.
Open 70' railed fence panel round pen for additional round pen work.
Riding Trails & Outdoor Turn-out:
Just steps away from Heron Bay Stables you can take a scenic walk on the ocean dyke trail system. This can lead you to beach sand when the tide is out to lope, or even swim with your horse when the tide is in.
The horses are turned out every day on seasonal pastures with very few exceptions being weather permitting. They are turned out in small groups and rotated on grass pastures depending on the horse’s needs. Private turnout is available if needed.
Stalls with In/Out:
12’ x 12’ stalls are available, most with operable windows for feeding and assuring light and proper air circulation is available to your horse.
Each stall is matted for comfort. We use sawdust bedding and the stalls are cleaned daily. Paddocks (15’ x 50') are layered with crusher dust gravel for drainage. Extra large drinking water barrels are outside in paddocks.
2 Outside Wash Stalls:
Our outdoor wash stalls features large matted areas, with hot and cold water.
Full Board Feed Room:
Each horse has a different feeding requirement depending on preference, age and work load. We offer a variety of feeds (e.g. complete feeds, senior feeds, low carb, etc.). Please feel free to discuss your horses’ individual requirements. An appropriate portion of grain, local & timothy hay will be fed to your horse four times a day. If your horse has special needs, we are happy to accommodate (an additional fee may apply).
We have a feeding cubby for each horse to store any supplements or medications your horse requires. We pride ourselves on being meticulous when it comes to feeding and making sure each horse gets what they need and all their supplements every day, without fail.
We do offer worming rotations and encourage you to follow the barn schedule to provide a safe environment for all the horses.
Self & Semi Board Feed Room
Self and Semi is shared by a Coop feed rotation. Barn Manager or Owner feed Monday - Friday with each self and/or semi boarder picking up one feed a week that fits their schedule. These horses are also on a four feed a day program. Our heritage barn and hay loft provide ample room for a couple of weeks supply of hay with clients having a footprint to store 30 bales. Feed rooms are close to the barn where grains are kept.
